Create Academy, a British Council IELTS registration partner in Eastern Sri Lanka, previously handled all student intakes and course inquiries through fragmented phone calls and manual social media messages. Core problems to solve: 1. High Lead Drop-off: Inquiries were getting lost or taking hours to answer because there was no unified intake pipeline. 2. Content Bottleneck: Every new IELTS score release, photo album, or course timetable required a developer to manually edit code and redeploy. 3. Network Performance: Students in the region frequently browse on slower mobile data connections, making heavy JavaScript SPA frameworks impractical.

Chose a lean, server-rendered PHP 8 and MySQL architecture to deliver sub-second response times on standard LAMP hosting without third-party framework overhead: • Custom MVC Routing: Implemented a lightweight front-controller (index.php) using mod_rewrite for clean URLs, output buffering for asset routing, and dynamic OpenGraph meta tag generation for social sharing. • Automated Image Optimization Pipeline: Built an ImageCompressor helper using PHP's GD library. When coordinators upload high-resolution camera photos or student certificates, the server automatically resizes and compresses them on-the-fly, reducing file sizes by ~70% before saving to disk. • Direct WhatsApp Admissions Flow: Replaced basic email forms with an inquiry pipeline that lets coordinators open pre-filled WhatsApp chats with prospective students with one click, cutting response times to minutes. • Anti-Spam Security: Added a double-layer defense (a hidden honeypot field plus a session-validated math challenge) to completely block automated spam submissions without frustrating users with Google reCAPTCHA popups. • Relational Back-Office CMS: Designed an admin portal with session-based authentication, PDO prepared statements, and drag-and-drop sort ordering for published results, gallery albums, and course modules.
